Blinx Healthcare is proud to share that PACO (Patient And Care Optimiser) is the first supplier positioned to integrate with the Child Protection – Information Sharing (CP‑IS) flag within the NHS Patient Flags Service. This milestone demonstrates Blinx Healthcare’s commitment to safer, more connected care across health and social care services.
What is CP‑IS Patient Flag?
The CP-IS flag is part of the NHS Patient Flags Service, a national programme that allows secure, near real-time sharing of child safeguarding information across health and social care settings. The flag enables care teams to quickly identify children who are subject to safeguarding plans, supporting timely and informed decision-making.
The Patient Flags Service now extends CP‑IS beyond emergency and unscheduled care, expanding to GP practices, community services, and other scheduled care settings. This ensures that health and social care teams have a more complete view of safeguarding information, helping to identify and protect vulnerable children more effectively.
Blinx Healthcare’s positioning demonstrates how PACO is prepared to support this expansion, ensuring safeguarding information reaches care teams efficiently.
Strategic Significance of Early Positioning
Being first in line for the CP‑IS Patient Flag integration highlights Blinx Healthcare’s leadership in digital health, interoperability, and safeguarding. This early positioning ensures that PACO is ready to support care teams across unscheduled and scheduled care settings, as soon as the CP-IS Patient Flag is fully live.
By enabling consistent access to safeguarding information across these settings, PACO supports stronger collaboration and more informed decision-making across health and social care.
Looking Ahead
As the CP-IS Patient Flag starts to roll out nationally, Blinx Healthcare is focused on progressing through full integration, ensuring PACO can:

Enable Coordinated Care:
Supporting stronger collaboration across health and social care services to improve safeguarding outcomes.

Expand Reach Across Care Settings
Enabling access to CP-IS Patient Flag information across urgent care, GP practices, community services, and other scheduled and unscheduled care settings, ensuring safeguarding visibility wherever care is delivered.

Supports PACO's Global Health Record
PACO’s CP-IS Patient Flag supports a unified patient record, making safeguarding information visible alongside clinical data across GP, hospital, and community care.
This integration represents the first of several Patient Flags PACO will support, with Reasonable Adjustments (RADF) and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) flags coming soon, as we continue to expand connected care across the NHS.
